Shop Exclusive: Cottage in the Woods x Aileen Fitzgerald

Once upon a time two years ago, we received a message from a  phenomenal local artist named Aileen Fitzgerald on Instagram. It's safe to say it's not everyday (or any day really) when an incredibly talented artist takes the time to shuffle her way through the unpredictable DM world. Little did we know, this DM exchange would become an instant and inspirational friendship. 

Aileen (pronounced eye-lean) is a self-taught painter and mother living in Austin, TX. Her landscape paintings invite a sense of calm and warmth into the home. You'll notice the quality of her work feeling so grounded in nature as she draws inspiration from the Texas Hill Country. Formally a registered nurse, she decided to pursue her passion for painting full-time in 2021. We love her talented and sweet heart and we're not the only ones. Her work has been featured in countless online publications, taken over Pinterest, and in the recent shops of Magnolia Market, Pottery Barn, Amber Interiors, LuLu & Georgia, and now the S+S Goods shop!! 

About our 'Cottage in the Woods x Aileen Fitzgerald' Collaboration

This was such a special collaboration for us that we got to bring to life with Aileen. To celebrate the one year anniversary of S+S and the return of our very first limited edition candle, "Cottage in the Woods", we wanted to bring out the vision behind the popular sold-out scent. Aileen not only captured it perfectly - she gave this print a whole new meaning to Saz's favorite phrase, "bib-chic". We love the built-in border she added around the art, which gives it an "already framed" feeling. TBH - It would sit so beautifully on a shelf in a brass or wooden frame.

It's no secret that the candle smells warm and cozy with notes of Frasier Fir, sweet Labdanum and Amber, and when bringing this print to life, it was this little mental visual of a simple cottage tucked away in the woods with a billow of smoke coming out of the chimney that kept inspiring us. Now we hope this print warms up your home and serves as a reminder to embrace the art of slow living.
