Daily Workout Inspiration + Favorite Finds

The new year can leave you feeling overwhelmed by resolutions and the pressure to start them all at once. The truth is you can begin to prioritize your overall health and fitness any time of the year. It is always a good time to tend to yourself! While personal health is more than just exercise, we did want to share some of our favorite equipment and ways we motivate ourselves to get our bodies moving.

Workout Motivation

Prioritization is Key

As parents, we definitely understand how it can feel like there isn’t enough time in the day to work out. We’ve found that when we prioritize getting the most important things on our list done before 11 AM, we will get those things done no matter what. It is important to us to do the things that fuel our souls in the morning, before we get bogged down by the day. After 11 AM we get caught up in our work, or our heads are down and focused on other things that by the time 5 PM rolls around we just want to relax and decompress instead of working out. If fitting in exercise before 11 AM does not work for your schedule, that is alright! We recommend finding another time that does work that you can set aside for yourself. There are hours in the week to strive, and hours in the week to thrive. For us, we look forward to our workouts and love having that time to ourselves.

Motivating Mindset

Even though we carve out the time for our workouts in advance, we still can have a hard time getting started. A million little excuses will pop into our heads to why we should be doing anything else. We have to remind ourselves that the emails, laundry, and errands can wait because once we finish our workout we will be in a much better mindset to tackle them than if we just skip our workout out and do them now. After you finish working out, take time to fully be in the moment. Embrace the feelings of joy and satisfaction so you can call upon that memory the next time you’re dreading hitting the gym. Of course, make sure you’re listening to your body. Don’t push yourself too hard, and rest and heal when needed! Along with a good mindset, a little pre-workout also can help too.

A Few More Tips

If you need to clear your mind, try starting your workout with a quick walk or run outside. We almost always feel better after spending some time in nature!

If you find yourself getting bored with your same old routine, make it a goal to try something new every week. Maybe thats a fun Zumba class, or even just a new playlist to run to.

If you don’t like going to the gym alone, see if there’s a friend who would come with you. You could start a new tradition of working out and grabbing smoothies together once a week.

If your working out from home, create a space that you love! Invest in a good yoga mat, or a cute set of weights. We’ve linked some of our favorite finds below.
